Top Rioja White and Red
The cream of currently available Rioja, both traditional and more modern, preceded by a couple of unoaked, star whites from Green Spain: a featherweight, fashionable, delicately spritzy Chacolí from the Basque Country at the eastern extreme of Green Spain, and a fine, tensile Godello from Valdeorras in Green Spain’s west. Plus two vintages of one of Rioja’s finest and most traditional white wines, Lopez de Heredia’s Viña Tondonia, with plenty of bottle age. Viña Ardanza, Contino, and Prado Enea are the top wines of their respective producers, La Rioja Alta, CVNE and Muga which we will taste from three great vintages, 2004, 2001 and 1995; and the Tobelos is an exceptional Reserva, with a modern accent. Wines of individuality, pleasure, and value.
