2002 Red Burgundy

4th Nov 2013 6:30pm to 8:30pm

At just over ten years of age this is a good time to have a look at this lovely red burgundy vintage, notable for its sweetness of fruit, its silky textured tannins, and great charm. If 2002 is not ‘great’ in the sense that 1999 (we hope - eventually!), 2005 and 2010 are, it is a vintage which (unlike 1999 for example), has not ‘hardened’ to any great extent, and where the good village wines, and many 1er Crus indeed, have been giving considerable burgundian Pinot-pleasure for many years already. We will taste across the quality spectrum, from village to Grand Cru, and from the Côte de Beaune (really beautiful Volnays) as well as the Côte de Nuits. Wines from £50 to £500 a bottle retail.
